Ashraf has generational roots that run deep in the city of Omdurman, Sudan. Omdurman is home to one of Africa’s most memorable conflicts – The Battle of Omdurman (1898). Upon the conclusion of the war, Britain made Sudan an Anglo-Egyptian colony.
Take a walk anywhere within the city and you can almost smell the history. It’s easily to quickly fall in love with the surroundings and landscapes. Ashraf feels a connection to the surroundings and people. This is exuded through his abstract works and media that feature nature.
Richly educated, Ashraf holds a PhD in painting from the Sudan University of Science and Technology, College of Fine and Applied Arts, along with a host of certifications in graphic design. Professional experience includes: Fine Arts Department head and Lecturer for Sudan University; along with a full list of exhibitions, workshops, and residencies that expand the globe.
