Description
Tayo was born in the port city and urban sprawl Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up in Lagos, he found inspiration all around him. Even with over 20 years of experience, he continues to explore and search for forms of expression.
Formal training includes a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, but fine tuning his craft is where he found that his most practical experience was enhanced. Exploring materials and methods help Tayo to create a distinct style, and his mastery and combination of water color transparency techniques, using lines, and overlapping forms through an acrylic medium sets him apart from other artists.
The Ford Foundation award recipient is a full-time studio artist and has exhibited across the globe. With a long list of achievements and awards, Tayo is still humbled by the inspiration he receives through found materials and the mundane things in-and-around Lagos and beyond. This helps him to create works that he’s proud of and willfully shares.
