Description
Maurice was born in the small port city of Kisumu within the Nyanza Province of Kenya. Not far from the village Barack Obama’s family village. This area is also famous for many charity events for runners and cyclist along Lake Victoria.
Maurice studied art from elementary school all the way up and through college. After earning his degree, he went on to freelance and teach art to children in orphanages. Inspiration comes for Maurice personally and artistically comes from day-to-day life. Growing up around Lake Victoria, the people in the village and in the orphanage, and those that live in the slums – provide perspective and reflection.
Over the years, Maurice has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Africa and the US, including being featured at Michigan State University. His future is bright and he’s looking forward to many more opportunities to come.
