Description
Rodrigue was born and raised in Agboville, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Agboville is an area known for its many festivals, celebrations, and many traditions.
Rodrigue is a self-taught contemporary artist whose works are expressed through the use of acrylic paints, inks, and aerosols. He juxtaposes his tribal roots with pop-art and street art — a true embodiment of the spirit of Basquiat, Haring, and Dubuffet.
A young historian of his ancestral heritage, he uses his media to educate about the “Gold Coast” Akan people where he reconnects with origins, myths, and legends. Rodrigue is a messenger of a world that is fading. He exhibits internationally, and his work is regularly showcased in France and throughout Europe where he continues to be a representation of his cultural inheritance.
